As we prepare to turn our clocks back, itβs also time to take a few minutes to protect what matters most β your family and your home!
When you change your clocks, change your smoke detector and carbon monoxide (CO) detector batteries, too!
A working smoke detector can provide the early warning you need in the event of a fire, while a carbon monoxide detector alerts you to this invisible, odorless, and potentially deadly gas.
Here are a few important reminders:
β° Change your clocks when daylight saving time ends. π Replace batteries in your smoke and CO detectors, unless they have sealed 10-year batteries. π Test every detector to make sure it is working properly. π
Check expiration dates. Smoke alarms generally need to be replaced after 10 years, and CO alarms should be replaced according to the manufacturer's instructions. π Make sure detectors are properly installed on every level of your home and near sleeping areas. Don't wait for an emergency to discover your alarms aren't working!
A few minutes today could make all the difference tomorrow.
Change Your Clocks. Change Your Batteries. Save Lives!
Stay safe, stay prepared, and remember that home safety starts with you! β€οΈ |
