The Silent Killer-Carbon Monoxide
By Leadership tram
June 23, 2026
Recently, emergency crews responded to a call regarding an unusual odor in a residence. Upon investigation, it was determined that the source was carbon monoxide related to a repair situation. All residents are advised to install carbon monoxide detectors on every level of their homes. When selecting a new carbon monoxide detector, consider the following recommendations: Choose a detector with dual sensors that can detect carbon monoxide, natural gas, and propane. Look for a model with a digital display that shows actual levels of carbon monoxide, not just a green indicator light. The green light typically means the device has power, but it does not provide real-time readings. It is important to select a detector that displays real numbers in real-time and provides early warnings, alerting you at the first sign of danger so you have time to evacuate safely. Detectors should not wait until levels reach 70 parts per million, which can already cause symptoms. Early detection is crucial to protect you and your family.
