Working Fire on Line Road
By MFC Watch Desk
April 25, 2015
At 16:33 hours on Saturday April 25th, 2015 the Malvern Fire Company and mutual aid from Goshen Fire Company, East Whiteland Fire Company, Paoli Fire Company and a medic from the Berwyn Fire Company were dispatched for a reported structure fire in the unit block of Line Road. Chief 4 (N. Vaughn) went responding shortly after dispatch and was advised of multiple callers reporting a fire at the property. Willistown Police Department and Goshen Ambulance 56-1 confirmed a working structure fire at the location. Chief 4 requested the working fire dispatch bringing the Lionville Fire Company for RIT, Goodwill Fire Company for Air 52 and Chester County Hospital Medic 91 for additional resources.
Chief and Deputy 4 (C. Gastwirth) arrived and began the incident size-up. Deputy 4 assumed the interior operations officer while Chief 4 took “Line Road” command. East Whiteland Engine 5-2 and Goshen Ladder 56 were the first two pieces to arrive, both taking the driveway. Two attack lines were pulled by each respective crew to the first and second floor of the structure as there was fire on both floors, extending into the attic. Both crews made an aggressive interior attack and held the fire to those areas. Ladder 4 arrived next and sent a crew to ventilate and search for occupants. Paoli Engine 3-5 laid 800’ of supply line to supply water to the fire ground. All additional units teamed up to perform various fire ground tasks, bringing the fire under control within approximately 45 minutes of arrival.
The fire was investigated by the Chester County Fire Marshal’s Office and is still under investigation. One firefighter was transported for minor burns during the incident but was later treated and released from the local hospital.
Thank you to the Radnor Fire Company (Quint 15) and West End EMS (MICU 67) for covering our response area during the incident.
